also, is anyone maintaining ftp.theslip.net? i know jason shut his down, but i thought this one was supposed to be working. it's rejecting the old username and password i had.
ftp.theslip.net is down, and will have to remain so for n indefinite period of time... I'm living in Japan and there was no way to setup a server with a good connection except at school. On top of that, when I get back to school I probably won't be living in a dorm so I might not have a hot connection at that time. Of course if I can get the server back up I will and I'll keep everyone updated. It's possible that I can convince my brother to let me leave a computer running at his house on an ADSL line. speed still will be a problem, though...
in the mean time, I'm still technically one of the administrators of The Slip's md5 archive at db.etree.org and I'm happy to continue this position, but I need the help of all of those out there who use the SHN file format. I'm very much out of the loop these days. Please go to: http://db.etree.org/shnlist.php?artist=91&year=2002 and any show that are available in shn format that are not listed on that archive please send me all applicable .txt files and .md5 files. when I upload the files they will automatically be converted to the etree.org standard file naming format, but nonetheless I'd appreciate it (for my own filing reasons) if everyone could send me files in slipYYYY-MM-DDdX (Y - year M - month D - day X - disc # for md5 files). I hope everyone takes a second to compare their shn collection, especially those of you that run an ftp server and already have many shows on your hard drive. Also, chances are the shows that are not archived already are from 2002 - unless anyone is actively converting old collections to SHN. if anyone has any questions about shn, ftp servers, etc, please don't hesitate to ask. If you've got a fast connection and are itching to startup a web/ftp server I'd love to help in any way. Also, www.etree.org has some great information. thanks for your help, colin former ftp.theslip.net admin. --------------------------------------- ** We welcome your thoughtful comments - especially newbies!.
