Just went through the update.
1. As already noted, R-core from the FC17 repo depends on
texlive-latex. Removing R allows the update to proceed, but
then, of course, R can't be reinstalled.

2. There are still a number of packages that are called texlive-*
in the repository. Are those in the process of being replaced?
