I tried following the parent page's instructions to go from 28 to 29 on 32 bit host gx28b. To do so, I cloned F28 to the partition that was the former home of F26, adjusted UUID, volume label, bootloader and fstab accordingly, ensured dnf.conf did not include keepcache=1, then proceeded to upgrade the clone. This was the result: # df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Version /dev/sda9 4843161 3710349 887020 81% F21 /dev/sda15 4843161 3576096 1021273 78% F27 /dev/sda14 4843161 3709028 888341 81% F28 /dev/sda8 4843161 4643059 0 100% F29 I did it all over again but without module_platform_id=29. Results were much better: # df # (after booting each of 27, 28 & 29 and running 'dnf clean all') Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% OS Kernels Installed /dev/sda9 4843161 3137042 1460327 69% F21 3.17.1 3.18.7 3.19.7 4.1.13 /dev/sda15 4843161 3410471 1186898 75% F27 4.16.5 4.18.16 /dev/sda14 4843161 3498666 1098703 77% F28 4.16.5 4.18.16 5.0.5 /dev/sda8 4843161 3809541 787828 83% F29 4.18.16 5.0.5 Much better, but am I the only one noticing system bloat that isn't attributable to kernel bloat? Is module_platform_id actually required for upgrading from F28 to F29? Is the Wiki wrong? -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. Team OS/2 ** Reg.
