It's Nouveau. noUveau. no U veau. There are two Us in it, is what i'm trying to say. This is likely not a bug at all but a limitation of the hardware you are driving it from or the cable you are using. 2560x1600 requires you to be using a dual-link DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort connection.
