FWIW: I wrote the DVD to a USB stick and was able to boot that on some
HW. At some point during installation while I wasn't paying attention
the screen went black (still had a movable mouse cursor and access to
the TTYs, though) and didn't seem to continue anymore. Didn't check
any further as I noted postings about DVD being broken already.
