No, tesseract has support for o lot of platforms including Windows, Linux, and Mac. IMO the "problem" is in your tiff file. Tesseract uses leptonica for handling images, so the best place is to ask at https://github.com/DanBloomberg/leptonica/issues why there is inverted output (or why some tools on Windows are interpreting it as white while other tools (including tesseract on Windows) on Mac as black.
