Hello all, Got this off the PLUG list. Yet another reason NOT to post links to ZDNet articles on techtalk. :) I can't say too much about the opinions on the writers, but I can say this: take note about writing to the top brass -- if your panties (or boxers, or briefs, whatever) are in a twist, it's probably the most effective thing you can do to complain. Cheers, (or jeers, in this case, right at ZDNet...) :) Stacy Brock Oregon State University Computer Science [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 12 Jun 2001 23:51:25 +0100 From: Carla Schroder <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [PLUG] Nine reasons to forget about putting Linux on your desktop Hi gang, Carla the lurker here. I worked for ZDNet once upon a time. It's called "pimping for clicks". David Coursey is lazy and arrogant. Most ZDNet writers fall in that category. Most of the "name" columnists do not write their own columns. If you really want to have an impact, write your feedback here: ZDNet 650 Townsend Street San Francisco, CA 94103 attn: Dan Rosensweig or Eric Hippeau (pick one!) They are two of the very highest of the top ZD/CNET dogs. Tell them ZDNet is embarrassing itself with lazy, sensationalistic, inaccurate reporting. Can't even call it reporting, just spewing, and not even very good spewing. Like anything David Coursey says about anything. Tell them you want accurate, timely coverage of Linux and Open Source, not the lazy-ass slop they've been serving. Like Carmine Fedora, who says "Red Hat Linux 7.1 Deluxe Workstation provides everything you need to get started with Linux, either standalone or to build a local-area network of up to five Linux machines. " Ahem, you can network as many as you like. You get technical support for five. Licensing issues are one of the biggest differentiators between Linux and Microsoft- should be taught in reporter kindergarten. If you really want to affect ZDNet's Linux coverage, don't waste your time posting Talkbacks, write to the top brass.
