Hi:
I am hoping someone can help me before I lose my mind trying to beat this
machine into submission ;-)
I am running Mandrake 7.0 on a bi-processor pentium box. I just installed Java
(jdk 1.3.0) in /usr/local/java.
When I am in root I can use it fine. I made the necessary changes to my PATH
and CLASSPATH in my bash_profile file.
Here's the problem....I am trying to install Oracle 8i. I created an oracle
account and the required groups. I changed the oracle user PATH and CLASSPATH
so it now finds java. The problem is that when I log in to an Xwindow session
as the oracle user and cd to /mnt/cdrom it will not let me run the installer
The error message I get is below Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
Linux Mandrake release 7.0 (Air)
Kernel 2.2.14-15mdksmp on a Bi-processor i686

[oracle@mulderig-0 oracle]$ cd /mnt/cdrom
[oracle@mulderig-0 cdrom]$ ./runInstaller
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
