Hello, all. Has anyone gotten PAM and ftp to play nice on Red Hat? I have 2 systems, a 6.1 and a 7.0, and both of them complain when I try to authenticate thru ftp, even tho regular logging in (ssh) works fine. first off, they are both running wu-ftp, 2.5.0 and 2.6.1. I have combed through all the ftpaccess, ftpusers, etc files and they look ok. When I ftp either locally or remotely, I get this: 331 Password required for steph. Password: 530 Login incorrect. Login failed. and /var/log/messages on the 6.1 box says (i took out the ip addies): Jan 5 11:06:59 redhat61 ftpd[17672]: PAM-listfile: Refused user steph for service ftp Jan 5 11:07:00 redhat61 ftpd[17672]: failed login from steph @ redhat61.mydomain.com [x.x.x.x], steph Jan 5 11:07:01 redhat61 ftpd[17672]: FTP session closed and my 7.0 box says: Jan 5 16:10:31 redhat70 xinetd[7115]: START: ftp pid=21770 from=x.x.x.x Jan 5 16:10:33 redhat70 PAM_unix[21770]: authentication failure; (uid=99) -> steph for system-auth service Jan 5 16:10:33 redhat70 ftpd: redhat70.domain: connected: IDLE [then a bunch of blank lines] [21770]: failed login from redhat70.domain [x.x.x.x] I replaced the contents of /etc/pam.d/ftp with /etc/pam.d/sshd, no change at all. I'm new to pam, but kind of familiar with the rigors of configuring wuftp. I'm stumped. And sad. =( __________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape Webmail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com/ _______________________________________________ techtalk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.linux.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/techtalk
