I've been loking into doing the same, I would highly recommend that oyu
check out the book Linux Clusters by O'Reilly and asociates. Tht book has
thus far answered every question i had, and it comes with a CD which
includes a multitude of clustering software.

It goes into depth on Beowulf Linux clusters. Give it a look, it's very
thorough.
