Hi all,

I've been looking for a very straight forward example with explanation on this subject - haven't found it yet.

My network is on a Cisco 2948G autosensing switch.  I have been seeing performance lags with my equipment (a mix of linux (mostly) and some NT boxes) - really slow internal connections.  I set the switch to not autosense ports and am using only commerical cat 5 IEEE rated patch cords.  The whole place has just been wired for Cat 5E.  Even with the switch not autosensing, I'm still seeing intermittent performance issues.  I would like to force all the cards in my workstations to 100 MB rather than have them autosense.

In Linux, I'm relatively certain this would happen with an options eth device line added to /etc/conf.modules.  However I can't get a fix on what exactly does the trick for setting 100 MB rather than autosensing.

Any examples you can provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Nicci
