Hi, I am having some trouble setting up remote root access on a backup system. In Solaris, to setup remote root access in a secure environment, I would put a .rhosts file in the root dir, and just use the rsh/rcp/rlogin commands to access the system without providing a root password (I would use the hostnames alone as the authentication control). Not good for public systems, but works fine on my home network looking after backups and such. I just converted one of the systems from running Solaris to running Linux RH 6.2 and I want to re-establish the same connectivity. Unfortunately, I am running into a wall, and I can not see how to get around it. So, the question is; How do I setup Linux to allow for remote access without using a password, so that scripts and such will work without user intervention? I know you folks are the best out there, and thank you for any information in advance.
