In this case, the processor and the RAM are not going to be a
performance problem at all. That box should be more than capable of
filling just about any pipe. So the question becomes, how much
bandwidth do you have for streaming?
The next question is also, what else are you running on that box? That
could have an impact too. I mean 1Gb of RAM on a PIII running Linux for
streaming only? Your manager normally runs an NT shop, then? ;) I
mean, having it dedicated is fine -- don't get me wrong on that --
you'll just have room to grow in that case.
