it depends a lot on which program you are using. anyway the first
thing to do is to set your pppd suid, which happens 'chmod a+s
/usr/bin/pppd (or where ever you pppd is located)' or you can just
use chmod g+s depending on whether you belong to the group that may
use the pppd program.
