Hello all, Jonathan Riddell [2014-11-28 14:33 +0100]: > Hola Tech Board, I'd like to ask for a Micro Release Exception for KDE > Frameworks, or depending on how you look at it extending the KDE Micro > Release Exception to KDE Frameworks.
We discussed it interactively in yesterday's meeting, but a summary as far as I understood it: * These are now more than just "micro"releases, thus will also see feature work, refactoring, etc. * KDE Frameworks has good test coverage. * There is existing reverse dependency testing on your Jenkins. It's by and large running the same tests that we run through autopkgtest, just not in the same format/testbeds. * This requires a manual test plan for SRUs: This should cover at least booting the desktop, check for visual problems, and testing the most important components, in particular the upgrade application. In other words, any potential breakage must not be so bad that we can't recover from it through another upgrade. Can you please write that down somewhere, and we link to that from the /MRE page? * We would start with doing that on Utopic. It's not a very interesting target as most users these days are on LTS, but it's a good target to test-drive this. Later on it will be reconsidered to limit these updates to LTSes.
