The viewing looks good, but I can confirm to also notice the "character" movement bug. locale is all set to "en_US.UTF-8". A good test file is I think: https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt Thanks for the work so far.
