Just because you have a large hard drive doesn't mean that you need GPT.
In disklabel, type 'b' to set the disk boundaries, accept the current
starting sector, and use '*' for size. I did an install to softraid
RAID1 the other day on a pair of 8TB drives like that (and otherwise
following the softraid instructions from the installation guide).
