USB  product IDs  only  need to  be  unique under  the  vendor ID.  It's
perfectly fine for vendor 0xAAAA and  vendor 0xBBBB to have devices with
ID 0x1234.

That's why simply adding the product ID is enough. Once they do that to
more than one device with different drivers, things are going to become
interesting, but I don't think that's going to happen after the initial
backlash.
