I could be considered an interested party, but for the most part
"newer for the sake of being newer" patches don't carry a lot of
momentum.

If the main concern is you have software that uses these interfaces
and you want it to run on OpenBSD, I think if it's interesting
software than there are people here (or ports@ more likely) who can
help making it run on OpenBSD.
