This is an interesting project, and I'm tempted to use it to replace my current bacula instance, but it suffers from the same problem. It thinks that backups are important, and they're not. Its the *restore* that is important! And which needs to be made as simple and as painless as possible. This is one reason I loved the Legato Network 'recover' tool. It just dumped you into a filesystem tree, let you change dates, locations. Mark, unmark files/dirs to be restored, and then when you went to restore it would let you over-right and restore to a new directory. Trivial! >From looking at Borg, they don't really mention how to do a restore in a simple manner. And since they don't offer a Windows client either yet... it won't replace bacula for me right away. But it certainly is tempting to test it out and see how it works for me.
