Unfortunately, that's one of the tools that Apple won't allow in their App
Store. (Their own AirPort configuration utility does have a basic scanner
built-in, but that's actually a recent addition. It also is really "just" a
list of APs and channels, and you probably want something a bit more powerful.)
If you're willing to jailbreak your device, there probably are some in the
Cydia app store, but I have no experience with them.

For the kind of scanner you need, you'll probably have to invest in an Android
tablet. Make sure you get one with dual-band hardware, so you can scan both the
2.4GHz and GHz spectrum. Gently-used or refurbished ones can be found for under
$200, often less if you can spend a bit of time to search. I'm fond of Google's
own Nexus tablets, but there are plenty more that will work for this.

Someone else mentioned the farproc Wifi Analyzer for Android, which is what
I've used.

Subject: [lopsa-tech] Good wifi analyzer for iPad/iPhone?

I need an app for my iPad or iPhone that will show me what wifi signals are
visible, relative strengths, and channels; SSIDs would be nice but I don't care
about authentication methods, etc. Mostly I need something that will help me
set up several new access points and let me avoid signal/channel clash, etc. I
would prefer something that gives me a visual display (kinda like a spectrum
analyzer) rather than just a list.

What do y'all recommend?

Thanks,
Adam
