I just applied a system update to my Android, and now my contacts include people I don't know. It appears, that people's email addresses automatically create entries in the contact list - people for example on mailing lists like this.
I can go down the list and one by one, delete the contacts, but I think there *must* be a checkbox somewhere that says to automatically add people I've seen in email to my contacts list. Try as I might, I just can't find such a checkbox, and my google-fu has failed me thus far.
Anybody have a clue?
(Briefly) On the first page of Gmail settings, there's the following option: Create contacts for auto-complete: It has two choices: When I send a message to a new person, add them to Other Contacts so that I can auto-complete to them next time I'll add contacts myself Just choose the latter option, and everything will go back to normal. -- Or set upon a golden bough to sing To lords and ladies of Byzantium Of what is past, or passing, or to come.
