Just seconding what Will Dennis said. I migrated users into a new domain with no downtime or any of those issues you mentioned. I did them in batches, and just told a group that tomorrow they should select domain A instead of B when logging in. Technet has everything you'd need to know, for exmaple: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc974332%28v=ws.10%29.aspx I used sid history so that after I did the users they could still access their files.
