I've been tasked with crafting a reasonably secure bare metal
install guide for MacOSX Lion. As Lion folks know, there is no
longer distributed media. If you want to start at a traditional
bare metal "grab the OS vendor media" step, it involves
downloading from the Apple server cloud.
Perhaps this is a dumb question, but have you asked the enterprise
support folks at Apple? Last time I looked, the options available to
enterprise (and educational and even small business) customers go
considerably beyond those in the retail chain - for example, a lot of
the internal tools used by Apple technicians are available to enterprise
customers. If you haven't already done so, try calling your account rep.
