I'll second the suggestion for airport. Maybe you don't need extreme - maybe express will do. Also, somebody might tell you you need an apple laptop in order to configure the airport. This is not true (but it was once.) There is indeed an airport configuration utility for windows now. I don't know about linux. I have not enjoyed my experiences with DD-WRT. Nocat. It's not the fault of the firmware, as far as I can tell.
