Oh, I remember now. Cuz I did explore this before. You were not talking about AIM, as in jabber/xmpp, the protocol. You were talking about the actual *product* aim. Which isn't acceptable for the requested purposes, because it doesn't allow you to use your own server. You have to create actual aim accounts on the actual AOL Instant Messenger site. Other "aim" products don't support video compatibility with ichat. And of course, the original request was open source, which, none of this is. If you're going to use aim & ichat running through AOL, you might as well just get skype instead.
