Not sure this is good, but you get hw.${audioif}.{frequency,precision,channels} sysctl nodes for each audio interface. So on no-audio machines sysctl hw | fgrep .frequency should produce no output. Could test more fancy with "sysctl hw|awk" probably. Martin
