This is more than 11 years ago and it seems like a good solution to me. I just tested it on my Raspberry-Pi 3 with a Dell touch screen, suffering under the same problem.
Why do we still require a range report for uts(4)? There is a newer PR which also refers to this issue: kern/57446 -- Frank Wille
