Contrib table markup

I just started using the Table component, it's very convenient for an  
administration interface I'm building.
I noticed it outputs some rather weird markup - no thead/tbody, and each  
header cell has an embedded <table> together with an inline <style>.  
Perhaps I'm hoping for too much, but is there a simple way to tweak only  
the markup without rewriting the whole thing?
