I am using a PowerBook 1.67 Ghz with 1GB ram and have not had any problems with eclipse and tapestry, jetty, tomcat etc. It's nice to have a proper unix command shell with all of the associated utiltiies and Tiger developer tools come with Ant already installed.
Must say though that the 1.5 VM on mac doesn't seem to be as quick as my 3 year old Dell Inspiron 2Ghz 8200 which has half the RAM.
