That is a good question! I would agree, restoring it to the defaults probably
wouldn't gain you anything.
Have you tried going into the profiles and turning on the vibrate function when
it ring to see if it does it when you are receiving a phone call? That will
tell you if it still works at all! I would try that with the phone unplugged
being the vibrate function will not work with the phone plugged in.

If that still works, then I would try a new battery to see if that gains you
anything. Other then that, you could try reflashing the phone to see what
happens. The N86 shouldn't lose any data and the like when you reflash it. This
is different then going back to the defaults. I've found a few cases doing the
*#7370# didn't gain me anything and when I reflashed the phone it fixed the
issue. This is when the phone only had a few meg of memory free and I couldn't
get all the memory freed up on the phone. Granted this was on a N95 model that
doesn't retain anything after a flash and it would normally have about 100MB
free and like I said it only had 2 MB free. But after the flash, it had what it
should free.

Yes you will need to plug it into your computer to do that and you will need PC
Suite and hopefully the firmware for the phone is still available on the Nokia
servers.

Remember always backup your phone before doing anything like this if you
haven't already done so.

Well, this just might be a simple matter of a phone slowly dying. My N86 no
longer has the vibrate upon reboot. Now, when I plug the phone in the charger
when it is turned off I still get the beep which I thought would also be
broken. I don't think restoring the phone back to factory settings is really
worth the effort. Is there anything I should take a look at here or just don't
worry about it. (smile)
