What about the E52?
It's a phone with classic alpha numeric keypad and wifi.

thanks for your reply stephen.
when i first wrote this message to the list i didn't think that i would get very far, as technology has progressed so far and so quickly that the old style button phones just can't keep up. the 2 models of phone that you had suggested are no good as they don't have wireless capabilities, so am presuming that the e5 i currently have is probably the best phone for me.
thankyou to all who contributed to this subject.
kind regards.

Well in that case, you will be out of luck. The C5 and the C5-5MP do not use
WiFi. The buttons phones do not have as fast as processer as many of the
newer phones from other providers. We're talking maybe 600MHZ over
1GHZ/1.4GHZ. So even the touch screen phones that run Symbian don't have
that fast of processer in them.

Myself, I would use my PC/laptop over a phone any day when at home to browse the internet. They can't compare. After all it is a phone. At least that is the way I treat it. I don't expect it to be fast with the internet and the like being they don't have a fast processer in them. Then we have the fact
that Nokia always didn't use the best hardware to access things like the
memory card etc....

But even then saying all of that, I will continue using my Nokia phone being I mainly use it as a phone and from time to time EMail and maybe wants in a
great while to browse a page on the internet.

Other makers of devices design there devices as internet devices first and as a phone as the 3rd/4th function of the device. Example: must of the newer devices are entertainment function/internet stuff first before getting into
phone calling and the like. So as the result of that they are going to be
better at that kind of thing and easyer to use for those kind of functions. On the other hand, making a phone call and doing phone type of function on
those devices can be done but is more steps to do the same type of things
that can be done on a Nokia phone quickly ans easy. Just my own thought on the matter. Probably why I will be sticking with my Nokia devices until they
either fail or aren't supported by the network anymore.

hi stephen.
my main reason for trying to upgrade is to have a handset that performs quicker than my current e5. i do a lot of my internet browsing etc. through my phone in the house which is running through my bt home hub and i feel that with the broadband speed that is available to me through the hub i can have a nokia handset that will perform quicker at some of the easiest tasks. my girlfriend has an iphone which seems lightning quick compared to my nokia e5, but as i said i don't like the touch screen phones. i might be chasing an impossible dream here but htough i would ask the list for any help on the off chance.
regards.

Maybe you want to give the C5 and the C5-5MP a feel? That phone has a number
keypad. The E6 has an qwerty keyboard and also has a touch screen.

The E71/E72 are older then the E5.

As far as down grading! I really don't think you will be missing out on much using one of the older 3rd Edition phones over the E5. But again we don't
really know what you are wanting in a phone and hints your reason for
wanting a later model of phone. Like I said, I've not found a reason to get
a later model myself to use on a normal bases. Yes I have a touch screen
Nokia 700 but I don't use it normally. I like the old N95 model much much
better and find it works just fine with Talks.
