application in the Mass Memory when the problem showed up. I have always have 
Whatsapp installed there. I am not sure if updating Talks will solve the memory

You could always try installing  Whatsapp on the Mass memory and not phone 
memory. You probably also need to install the latest version of Talks being 
you said you have version 5.31.4 installed. The latest version of Talks is 
version 5.50.3. That is setup to work with the later version of Whatsapp. In 
saying the above, I don't know if that will take care of your memory issue 
but worth a try.
