Yes go in to Talks either by pressing Talks key followed by soft key one long 
press.  Once in the actual Talks go to options and arrow up from the bottom or 
down from the top until you hear disable talks.  This does it and when you want 
to use it again get your wife to repeat this procedure and this time she will 
have to Enable Talks.
