Not much help but there was a gentleman once on this list and he had no
problems using N8 without vision. Why did you choose this form of touch screen
when there are so many other softwares and phones that are touch screen but not
with Talks. There is a chapter in the Talks manual which should be helpful but
I cannot recall the chapter number. You might consider a bluetooth keyboard if
you are writing long e-mails or doing a lot of reading on-line. With the
virtual keyboard on the touch screen, you can opt for the qwerty style or the
mumeric. I really think the numeric would be preferable. Even my niece who is
fully sighted and uses N8 prefers the numeric keyboard. What uses are you going
to put the phone to? Example making and receiving calls only or for e-mail and
Internet also? There is an app which you could purchase or maybe it is
incorporated in the software called Vlingo, you can then use your voice to
bring up someone's telephone number and call them but to do this you cannot
have multiple numbers for that person all together under the one name. You do
not tell us if you have ever used Talks before or if you are coming to it
totally new. There is a standby screen and you can have a number of these
screens where you can have all the popular apps that you use. I have an E6
which has touch screen but in addition a qwerty keyboard. You may want to find
out if you can lock your screen in portrait or landscape. There is a certain
amount of difficulty where you call a number and from there you have to keep
selecting other numeric options. If it is a regular number and you know the
sequence of numbers to press then this configuration can be stored. Let us know
if you are familiar with the soft keys 1 - 5 on a touch screen. Soft keys 3 - 5
are only present in certain situations while soft keys 1 and 2 are always
present and at the bottom left and right of the screen respectively.

Subject: [Talks] help please

Hi every1

I am new to this mailing list. Hope I will be able to contribute some of my
knowledge to the list, though I myself do not know much. As for now, let me
request anyone of you out there to help me out in solving few of my problems.
Just few days back i bought a Nokia N8, which is a touch screen device & had
installed the latest talks. But you know what? I found myself to have ran out
of patience in exploring it due to the fact that this is my first touch screen
mobile, + I am a totally visually impaired person & thus cannot identify
anything on the screen, + none of my sighted friends are willing to help me
out, + I am staying far, far away from my parents who would have tried helping
me out in this issue. But till now, I feel that my possession of this device is
a waste. So, before anything happens, can any1 of you send me some write ups or
manual containing hints on how to use talks with N8? Or else, if you want me to
mention few particular areas where i exactly face problems then I
will do so on request. I have a high hope that after a few days from now, I
will be able to use this device & not to be in my bag simply, haha. Please,
please, please, please, help.

Thanks friends in advance.

Thanks & Regards
