That is a good Question. The answer will depend on when you did the
backup and what was in phone memory. Only stuff in phone memory is
backed up.
Changing the battery shouldn't have done what you said happend. Sound
like to me, the person did a little more then just replace the battery.

I forgot to turn off my phone when I went to the store to purchase a
new battery for my N86. The tech exchanged batteries but now it
seems to programs are missing. If I were to restore from a backup
located on my memory card would everything be put back on my n86
including talks, the missing programs and my short cut key selections?
