It could be that the USB port that you are plugging your C5 into isn't a
powered USB port. Another words, it doesn't provide power to the USB device.
I would try a different USB port on your Laptop or PC.

I have a nokia c5, when I plug it in to the mains to charge
it up, talks announces charging but when I plug it in to a
usb port to charge it up, it doesn't say charging, I just
get a bleep. Just curios about this.
