I don't have an E6, and my wife borrowed my E71X, so I can't even use it to check my steps, but the trick on my E71X is to go into Options and make sure that auto find is set to off. Then you'll need to make sure the cursor mode is set to original, and you can cycle through the cursor modes by using a long press of the #2 key. After that, you should be able to arrow to the different objects in your text message and use the options menu to copy it to your clip board or add it to your address book.
