My firmware version is 022.014 which should be the latest version. I don't know what the difference is Eleanor. For example, a message just came in from Jim with the subject line reading HTML messages on my N86. That's what talks reads as I arrow down through the list of messages on my E6. I tried changing my message setting to see if I could duplicate the issue you're having. I swithched from downloading full messages just to down loading headers. I changed from not downloading images to downloading images. I turned groups on in stead of off.. Nothing made a difference. I can still read the name and subject of the messages in the In box as I arrow through them. When you click on the in box when it's empty do the other boxes show up for you? They do for me.

Ok This is what I do on my E6 to access mail.
I click on mail. That brings up in my case the name of my mail account deni...@cox.net. I have to arrow up or down once then back to the acount name of deniset... to put the focus on it. Then I click on it. It opens the in box. If I have mail there's a list of messages I can arrow down through. Ittells me who the message is from and the subject. To read it I click on it and it brings the message up as a browser. I then press Talks then the arrow down key and it reads the message. As soon as it starts reading I can arrow through the message one line at a time if I want to. I can then go back to the list by closing the message or press the delete key and it deletes the message. When my In box is empty, I can click on it then arrow down and it shows the draft, sent, out box, and deleted messages or it gives the number of deleted messages- I've never clicked there so I don't know if the messages are actually still there or if it's just the number of messages deleted. I can click on the draft, or sent boxes and access the content there if any. Then I can touch back and it takes me back to the In box. If I arrow to the right I get to Sorting. If I arrow to the right one more time it says new mail. If I click on new mail it brings up and empty message reday to be filled in and sent. It default to the To field then. If I arrow down I get a CC field, subject field and the body of the message where I can fill in what I want to say. It has the signature at the bottom. I can touch options and send the message. I've tried assigning different rolls to the various mail boxes with the object viewer, but so far I haven't found a way to have the draft, sent, etc mail boxes show without clicking on the In box when it's empty. It's almost as though those boxes are inside the In box. Because when you access them then go back it puts you in the In box again. I'm able to do this with the current public release of Talks on my E6. It isn't perfect, but it's useable until the eamil can be worked on for the next larger release.

Hi Allan
I changed my E7 for E6 because of the issues.

Now in relation to E6 and latest release of Talks 20 October. I go in to my e-mail, I cannot access Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Deleted Files and Sent files by relying on Talks speech. Talks is silent on these folders. I can have 10 e-mails in the Inbox and I can arrow down from one to ten and Talks is silent. I might have Sent an e-mail and would like to have been able to read it back again but I cannot as I cannot find the Sent folder using Talks.

Hi Eleanor,

I had an E7 and I could not access the Internet! This despite the fact others with same firmware and same version of Talks could.

I really have no clue what is the problem with your unit of E7. But I have the following suggestions if you willing to try them:

1. with a sighted help, try to reformat your E7 and see your problem has resolve.

2. i assume your unit of E7 still with Symbian^3 and before upgrade to symbian anna, perhaps you can try to upgrade to symbian anna
(if available for your unit), and see whether your problem resolve.

if above doesn't solve your problem, i am nearly assume that your E7 has an operator modify firmware, then i dont know what else to
suggest you.

Then with the e-mail, I was able to read down through the names in the Inbox of the e-mail and could access the e-mail by means of the Talks Key and down volume key. Now on E6 with new release of Talks, I cannot even read the names in the Inbox!

do you mean that you cant read the list of folders "inbox", "outbox", "sent" and etc? or actually you cant read the email list in
the inbox? can you give the step-by-step to reproduce your problem?
