I'm not talking about typing the first few letters while in the
contact list. I'm talking about typing the first few letters while
still on the home screen without going into contacts. Maybe we could
do that on other nokia phones but I didn't know about it until now.

Many of these tricks have been in many Nokia phones over the years.
These include the trick of typing the first couple letters of a
contact while within the contact list, the trick for blue tooth, and
the trick for the browser, although if I remember right the trick
for the browser only brings up the WAP browser. As for the others
mentioned I am not sure... what say you Doc?

Subject: [Talks] E6 tips and tricks
I read and article this evening that pointed out some very cool
tips and tricks that work on the E6. So I thought I'd pass them
along for those of us who have them or who maybe thinking of getting one.
From the home screen- just start typing the first few letters of
the contact you want and the entries in your contact list that
match those letters will come up on your home screen. They don't
speak so after typing a few letters you can arrow down and the
list will be there. click on it and if there's only one number
it'll start dialing. If there's more than one it'll take you to
where you can choose which number you want.
From the home screen- Press star and hold it a second or so and it
toggles bluetooth on and off.
From the home screen- press 0 and hold it a second or so and it
launches the browser. Hold that thought until the browser is
accessible with talks.
There is a small key that sits between the vol up and vol down
keys. This is a mute key. If you press it while on a conference
call it keeps noise in the background of where you are from
interfering with the call. I haven't tried to see if you press it
on a regular call to see if it also blocks background noise.
There's a flash light that is apparently quite bright that turns on
and off by sliding the lock key button on the right side of the
phone down and holding it until you feel a couple of short
vibrations. For folks who have some vision this could be handy.
