I have turned the phone off and on again and I still have the latest version
of Talks. It should work then on the web and does not. Now surely there is
a Talks dealer who has put Talks on E7 for someone and who can confirm if it
does or does not work.

Are you sure you still have the new one? Did you turn off and on your
phone after Talks started talking again? Did you go into the Talks
settings and press options and look at the about screen?
