I've found people are just fine if you put the word smile, chuckle, frown
etc... in your messages. So the emoticons may be nice but the words are just
as good. I tell people when they send me stuff to use the words in place of
typing any emoticons!

I don't think the smiley table is in the older firmware.
yes, the smilies table only introduce in firmware 071.004. is a bonus
given by nokia to some s60 9.3 devices such as e72, e52 and
etc.
