Marcus I tried the Volume factor at 100 percent and still noticed the
scratchyness and hissing.

as there have been a few comments on this list about poor audio quality
with the new version of TALKS, which are not seen by all people, perhaps
it is helpful to add a few details that can hopefully make these
observations make a little more sense:
- Most likely all changes in audio quality depend on the version of
Eloquence that is installed, and not the version of TALKS - anything else
would be extremely usual, from the nature of the changes in this version.
You can still use Eloquence 6.1.123 alongside TALKS 5.21 if you want and
if it worked well for you before. This way, you should find all "new"
audio problems being gone again. Keep in mind that the active version of
Eloquence will only be updated after either a restart of the phone, or
after switching to another TTS and back.
- If you experience "scratching" or "clicking", try turning the volume
factor in audio settings down to 100% - due to the way the speech signal
is manipulated for some extra audio gain, settings about 100% can lead to
distortions, and the "safe" limit depends very much on the exact voice
being used. This change will not address all "hissing" that some people
notice, but I'd suggest going back to 100% volume factor and verify
whether the problems still exists - this might explain why some people are
seeing this more than others.
