It also depends on how hard you are on it. You dont need to slide it open to read text messages or emails.

I had a 16 gig card in my n95 when I sold it to my brother and it handled it well. Sometimes with those slider type phones the slider is a bit loose and rattles a bit I noticed this with n86 but the slider on the telstra modified n95 did not move or rattle a bit.
