What you need to do is to be at the standby screen of your N86 for the first time you use Voice Command on your N86. This only needs to be done once when first using the Voice Commands on a new phone or after formatting it.

1. Mute Talks. Talks followed by Clear.
2. Press and hold the SoftKey2 button for about 2 seconds and release it.
3. Now press SoftKey1 for YES. This will now enable Voice command on your phone.
4. You can now unmute Talks with Talks followed by clear.

You will not need to mute Talks again for the voice commands. This is a issue on the N86 where you will not get the screen about enabling the Voice Command if Talks isn't muted to start with. I found this out by playing with the phone a few years back.
