Hi jo.
Well I would go for a Nokia N86. The problem is you can't officially get it anymore, meaning you will have to buy it second hand. This is what I ended up doing after having my N73 for years and can't regret my purchase.
Take care.

Hi,
I want to thank everyone who responded to my problem. It isn't good
news, but I thank you all nonetheless. I've known for some time that I
really should up-date my phone. My problem is that I have the KNFB
Reader and so many new phones now support the reader and I don't know
which one would be best for my needs. Again, thanks.

Jo,
I'm afraid that your problem is the result of the age of your phone
rather than operator error. My N82 has just started to exhibit the
same problem.

One solution would be to never turn off the phone and just plug in the
charger when necessary. Unfortunately, a phone does need to be turned
off occasionally to tidy up the memory.

I decided to just accept the date and time in the dialog, which, of
course, are wrong. Then, since I have my phone set to auto-update in
the Date and Time Settings dialog, which can be reached by going to
Tools and then Settings in the Menus, I press and release the power
Button, switch to the Off-line Profile, and then switch back to the
Normal Profile. This causes the AT&T network to update my date and time.

All of this wouldn't be necessary if I could cancel out of the Date
and Time dialog that displays at boot up, but Soft Key 2 doesn't work
for this. Because of auto-update, my date and time are actually
correct when that dialog is being displayed, but the phone doesn't
know it.

Hi,
For some reason my n82, when turned on, keeps defaulting to the date
and time screen. I've reset them each time, but when the phone is
turned off and then on again, it needs to be reset. I'm using the
latest version of Talks. I've looked up the directions in the manual,
but I guess I'm probably interpreting them incorrectly. Can someone,
please, give me a step-by-step as to how to resolve this problem? All
help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

stephen

More people are using keyboard phones over touch screen phones. I
would suggest checking out the Talks manual for Talks 5.20.3. There
is information in there on how to use the touch screen phones. Yes
there are some using touch screen phone but I feel at this oint,
more are using keyboard or keypad phones over touch screen ones with
Talks. Some people have both a touch screen phone and a phone with a
physical keys of some type.

hello list.
i was told about this list and have joined hoping to learn some
more about the talks software for mobile phones.
ok i am currently running a nokia e65 and talks version 3.5.2.
i am thinking of getting a newer phone and subsequently another,
more current, version of the talks software.
in my travels around different websites etc. i have noticed that
many blind people are using touch screen phones and version 5 of
the talks software.
my question to the list is this:
does anyone know of anywhere i could download an audio tutorial of
using talks on a touch screen phone, or even to get to a website
that can explain how to use a touch screen phone with the talks
software?
to be honest i am really struggling to understand how a totally
blind person is able to use a touch screen phone.
regards.
