Hi,
I read from your responses that I needed to try pressing the talks key
followed by down arrow. This still didn't work. I wondered if upgrading to
the latest version of Talks would solve my problem and fortunately, it did.
I downloaded the file to my memory card while I was on a trip this weekend
and tried just unziqqing and installing it all one file at a time. This
didn't work, so I had to wait to get back to where I'm living at the moment
and use PC Suite on my desktop to install the new Talks version. The first
time I attempted to install it, it said it had canceled the installation,
but the second time, it took. Now, reading e-mails using talks then down
arrow, works quite nicely. It does read it a bit differently than it used
to, but it reads them all the same!
Thank you for the help you guys!
Dawnielle

Hello Dawnielle,

I think what is happening here is that your e-mail client is downloading the
header of the message so that you can see the sender and the subject line.
Try getting back into your e-mail client, this time pressing options, and
see if there is an option to download the entire message, instead of just
the header.

 Edward

Subject: [Talks] I've got a problem.

Hello,

I got an alert today for my Nokia E73 mode when I opened my e-mail
inbox. It said that there was an update for my e-mail application. I think
it said it was optional. I thought it couldn't hurt, so I downloaded it and
installed it. it installed successfully and said that the phone needed to
be restarted for the changes to take affect. I restarted the phone and went
back into my inbox. Everything seemed fine. I read through the subjects of
the messages and hit select on one from a friend I wanted to read. It opened
like normal and then... nothing! I couldn't get it to read the body of the
message at all! I tried another mesage, thinking that maybe there was a
problem with the one I'd just opened, but nope, every message I opened I had
the same problem. So, what do I do now? I don't know how to get this update
off my phone. I looked in my installed programs, thinking that it would be
as simple as just removing the specific update. My only choices were to
uninstall something called E-mail updater helper, or to uninstall the e-mail
application itself. I'd be willing to uninstall the e-mail application,
providing I could be sure to reinstall one that will work again. I know
there's a way to change cursers with Talks, and I thought this might help,
but I can't remember how to do it. I really, really do not want to have to
hard reset my phone!
Thanks for any help you can provide and those of you with E 73 Modes and
newer phones, stay away from newly released e-mail application updates!
Dawnielle

Talking of updates a new software version has been released for the e72.
There are two very good things re this update.
firstly the symbol table still works I was on tender hooks during the update

process in case the symbol tables would not be spoken by talks but nothing
to worry about.
Secondly this was an on air update which can be done either through software

update or device manager. I chose the latter so now after reading the
details of the version release device manager no longer says not updated.
The release date is 23 February 2011.

I had the same problem. Thanks to someone to point out that you can use
talks key followed by the down arrow key a few times. That is of course
after you have opened the mail. The only problem i have after the upgrade is
the attachments. Still can't find solution.

There are different cursor modes but it does not sound like this will
resolve your problem. They are: letters, words amd origional . To get one of
these options you press the Talks key followed by a long press of the number
2 on the keypad. Just cycle through each option.

Dawnielle

Hello Dawnielle,

I think what is happening here is that your e-mail client is downloading the
header of the message so that you can see the sender and the subject line.
Try getting back into your e-mail client, this time pressing options, and
see if there is an option to download the entire message, instead of just
the header.

Dear Listers, and Dear Eleanor,

You have kindly responded to my query relating to problems accessing
attachments in Googlemail box on my Nokia C5. You said:
"I access my Google Mail via Messaging where I have it set up. If I have an
attachment then with the mail open, I go to Options amd arrow down until I
hear Actions amd select on that. One of these is attachments. I select it. "

Eleanor, I'm not sure what I may have done wrong. I don't find the choice in
"options" anything to do with attachments. You said you access your
googlemail account via messaging. Is this significant? I configured my
googlemail acount on my Nokia C5 but I'm not sure whether I should have
configured it in a particular way that would give me access to the "options"
menu item thatyou have.

I feel very much at sea with these things so I do apologise if it all sounds
naive to you who have been using Talks for a long time. Do you use exchange
for your e-mail access? I've just configured Googlemail account and followed
the instructions as they were presented to me and it seemed straight
forward. But now, I do not have access to my attached files, nor do any
links in my e-mails are reported as links. Am I missing something? I've
studied Talks manual as thoroughly as i can but I a not finding information
on attachments. I can see that most of you on the list are very experienced.
I would be grateful for any tips. I haven't done any computer programming so
my knowledge of this side of things is limited.

With many thanks

Andrew

I configured G mail as you describe. Are you sure that you have gone in to
Google Mail on-line amd enabled POP3 OR INAP as you need to do this in order
that your Google Mail can come through on your phone. This is similar to
what you need to do if you want to receive Google Mail through Outlook
Express or Outlook. Once it is enabled you do not have to enable it again
for the phone. You should be able to receive your attachments amd open then
once you have the e-mail opened on the phone. If you go to Options amd arrow
down to Actions, if there is nothing there about attachments then there is
another option below Actions called More. It may be in there. I do not have
a Google attachment to try it out amd I an not using the C 5 for the next
month.

Andrew

Hi, I do have same prolem as Andrew suggested. I think you have already
configured your email setting correctly as much as gmail setting on internet

is concerned or else you will not see your mil coming in in the first place.

Attachments options were available for me when i use older client, before my

E52 suggested the updates. After the updates, the option mysteriesly gone
from the option. It is either not supported by talks or the client. Looks
like there is no work around just yet.

Thank you,
Caleb

Subject: [Talks] Talks and Braillino with Nokia E5-00.

Good morning folks from Lebanon!

I purchased last week the Nokia E5-00 installed talks on it and licensed it.

I started using it with Braillino to find out that the applications I used
with Braillino worked fine except sending sms. When writing an sms before
being sent using the Braillino's keyboard, I can here and listen to what I'm

writing but when the sms is being sent the other party receives it empty and

it is also kept empty in the sent folder. This is not the case as when
writing and sending sms from the E5-00 qwerty keyboard directly, the sms
arrives as it should be to the other party. Are there any solutions to this

unexpected problem from my part at least? Any contributions are welcomed.

Best regards,

Badih Zeinoun
