I think whatever the official line about symbian is from Nokia the strategic reality is that they are now going to devote little if any time to symbian development. The CEO describes the quote whole company " focussing on windows. The symbian system is obviously seen as the lame duck which is pulling the company down by losing out to android and I-Phone.
See the below from the CEO of Nokia. Nokia is aiming to produce a phone running Windows Phone 7 operating system by the end of the year, its chief executive told Reuters. "Clearly there is significant pressure on the teams and the whole company to ensure that we deliver a great Windows Phone product as quickly as possible, and we would certainly prefer to see that in 2011," CEO Stephen Elop said in an interview on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona. There is significant pressure on the teams and the whole company to ensure that we deliver a great Windows Phone product as quickly as possible "Because of the pace of software development and advances of Android, and Windows Phone for that matter, and Apple , we had a risk of falling further and further behind because development of our Symbian-based products was slipping," Elop said. Elop announced the software tie-up with Microsoft last week, but the mainstay of his much-anticipated strategy revamp got the thumbs down from investors, with shares in the Finnish company dropping to their lowest level since 1998. __________ Information from ESET Smart Security, version of virus signature database 5881 (20110216) __________ The message was checked by ESET Smart Security. http://www.eset.com _______________________________________________ Talks mailing list Talks@talksusers.com http://lists.talksusers.com/mailman/listinfo/talks Hosting of this list provided courtesy of: eHosting Limited: http://www.ehosting.com/ and Talknav Inc. http://www.talknav.net/
