Yes you can dial the number press the call key wait about 1 second and then 
hang up the call. Then go and look in the log program under dial numbers and 
see who's name is there. If there is no name, then you do not have a entry in 
your contact list for that number. Cases where this can fail, if that number is 
in your contacts more then once. It may take a little longer before the phone 
finds a match over 1 second.
