You've got something on me because the only ways I know how to do this don't have anything to do with the numeric/querty keypad.
One way to do this is to press Talks followed by the long press of soft key 1. This will bring up the Talks application. You can then go into Options and About to get the version number for Talks. Another way to do this is to go into Settings -> App Manager and select Installed Programs.
